Pacing is sometimes robust, and may include several long days with early hotel departures, active sightseeing and evening activities. Opportunities for daytime rest and rejuvenation may be limited on most days. May include significant motor coach time, two or more ontour flights, and/or occasional travel via non-traditional means such as safari vehicles, Zodiac ship tenders, rickshaws/pedi-cabs, etc.

Cycling Norway
Your Norwegian cruise tips the hat to landlubbers, too, with plenty of onshore activities, like bicycling. Bergen is the beginning of a famous cycle route to scenic Voss. For a shorter, more leisurely ride, you can also cycle all around the historic Bryggen harbor area. Ask your Adventure Leader for ideas.

Let Us Entertain You
Nature, with its ever-changing pageantry of sea, sky, coast, and island, is the real entertainment on this voyage. Your Hurtigruten ship is a working vessel, used by Norwegians for travel up and down the coast, and rather than traditional cruise line entertainment, features informative lectures and presentations about culture, history, and cuisine.

Stay Active
During the cruise portion, Active Adventure Optional Tours are available at extra cost from Hurtigruten, depending on the season. Winter activities include snowmobiling, reindeer sledding, king crab fishing, whale watching, husky dogsledding and more. Hurtigruten Hiking Passes are also available on board at extra cost. The Hiking Pass gives access to special hikes accompanied by the Expedition Team. Depending on the route, hikes can last between 1.5 to 4 hours. Most of the hikes are level 4 hikes and require a good standard of fitness.

  Norway’s original capital, Trondheim, was founded as early as 997 by the Viking King Olav Tryggvason, who gave the town its name, Nidaros. During your tour, you’ll see the city’s wooden buildings, red-painted city bridge, and charming streets and boroughs. Make a short stop at Utsikten (“The View”) to admire the city from up high. You’ll also visit the impressive Gothic-style Nidaros Cathedral, which many visitors describe as the most beautiful church in Norway.
• Tromsø: "Gateway to the Arctic"
  Located beside the mighty Arctic Ocean, Tromsø is surrounded by towering mountains and is the largest town north of the Arctic Circle. During your tour, you will visit Tromsø University Museum and learn about the Sámi people, their traditional culture, and recent history.
• Kirkenes & the Russian Border
  Explore the small town of Kirkenes, land of Sámi and reindeer and your turnaround point on your Norwegian cruise. We'll embark on an illuminating excursion to the Russian border, followed by a tour of Andersgrotta or a visit to the enchanting Snow Hotel (dependent on weather).
